Singer Sewing Centre, affectionately known as ‘Singer’s Corner’, is one of Cork’s favourite landmarks. At the corner of Washington Street and Grand Parade, it is a popular city centre meeting point – lots of local romances started out with a date at Singer’s Corner! The Singer Sewing Machine Company moved into No. 1 Washington Street between 1873 and 1875. The building was the headquarters of the Singer Company in Ireland and every floor was in use for offices and workshops.
